The most picturesque maybe area of the town of Poros is the area of St. George. A small cobbled square with the Church of St. George and the shop of Grivas - on one edge - and a small church to another. Two, three other small shops around complete the graphic image of the square.

In the Square of St. George, next to the small church, was formerly the first aqueduct of Poros, from which it took water the people of Poros. Immediately after the small square, about 20 to 30 meters, you will find the family tavern of Dimitris, along with its butcher shop, with panoramic views of the beach and bay of Poros.

At St. George we arrive either by starting from the Town Hall Square and climbing the cobbled streets, or by from the movie theater "Diana" which is located in the other side of the beach of Poros and climbing a few stairs. From wherever you go, in just three minutes you are in St. George.

Poros is the island of peace, romance and jauntiness. It is overgrown with pine trees which reach the rugged shores or the sandy beaches. The residents of Poros are like all islands, spontaneous, decent and hospitable.

Its Historic Clock is imposing from the distance on the highest top of the hill, among prickly pears and pine trees. It was built in 1927, it is visible from every part and it is the jewel of the town.

The houses by the sea are big and neoclassical. They are thebuilding of Deimezi, built with grey and red stone, the shop of Griva, with the big doors and beautiful decoration. From the most nice houses of Poros is Villa Galini, building of 1892, that has accommodated famous personalities of Art.

At the center of town you can find the archaeological museum, that is opened daily except Monday. Also someone can visit theMetropolitan Church of Saint George and the Xatzopoulio Public Library.

Some sightseeings that you must visit are: The church of Virgin Mary, after Sinikismo, "Zoodochou Pigi" Monastery (18th century), built on a green hill, with sea view. It combines tranquility with simplicity. After the Monastery we reach the Temple of Posidon .

Five kilometers to the north there are the remainings of the Russian Dockyard . There in 1834 were built stock yards for the Russian Naval. Next to the Russian Dockyard there is the little island of Daskalio. 

At the end you can visit the famous Lemon Forest. The 'Lemon Forest' is a big area full of lemon trees with lots of waters and waters mills. The forest leads to Plaka and Alikes with sandy beaches facing "Bourtzi". From the top, the view of "Lemon Forest" is panoramic. It is the most praised site of Poros in the Greek cinema films.
